Crispy Waffles

Vege Waffles for the win : Regular waffles are not my thing anymore…

One of the most challenging parts of being a mom is to be able to feed the kids healthy-ish meals or at least include more fruits and vegetables whenever I can.I know it sounds impossible but trust me there’s always a way!!!

Like today I have made waffles with finch beetroot powder and finch curry leaves powder.The kids didn’t even realise that there’s hidden veges, because it just looked colourful so they enjoyed it and flavour was not too overwhelming for them to feel an after taste…Try it and let me know what you think

This recipe requires minimal ingredients but a slight change in the method proves to give the most crispiest waffles and that’s how we like ours !!!

Let’s Get Started

You Will Need

  • 500g All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • 4 oz. Melted Butter
  • 4 Eggs separated
  • 3 Cups Milk

Sift Dry ingredients together : flour, baking powder and salt

Beat egg whites till stiff and set aside.

In another bowl beat the yolks with milk,salt and butter.

Then mix yolk mixture with the whites.

Add in flour gradually and mix till well combined.

This is the basic Waffle Batter
I made two flavours so I divided batter into two and added in 2 tbsp of each :
Finch Beetroot Powder
Finch Curry Leaves Powder

Look at that gorgeous colour

This one was so well flavoured

Let this sit for 20 minutes

Time to make the waffles

Start spooning the batter into your greased waffle machine.Don’t forget to spray oil before you start making your waffles

Let it cook a few minutes more than you would usually do to get the most crispy waffles.
